Community Transport Service

The Community Transport Service provides transport for the housebound, people with disabilities and the elderly living in the Folkestone & Hythe district who need a car to keep appointments, visit family or friends, go shopping etc. The service is for people who are unable to use public transport and who have no other means of transport available to them. All Transport clients must be able to get in and out of the car unaided, as our volunteer drivers are not trained to lift carry or push wheel chairs. Requests for help can come from the person needing help, or from other voluntary organisations, hospitals or friends. Requests may be on a regular or one-off basis. Transport is provided by volunteer drivers, using their own cars. Individuals requiring transport must be a member of the service. There is an annual membership fee which, for insurance reasons must be paid before transport is provided.
